About
BFM 87.6:
BFM is placing our
popular Radio Training Program within the reach of the young
members of the local community with our broadcasting FM Radio
Station. With our overwhelming success, we started looking
at ways to allow many others to receive the benefits that
this program has to offer.
A fully operational
FM radio station that is set up at the Beenleigh PCYC and
broadcasts to the local Beenleigh community.

The station is a tool
for the youth development programs that are run at the Beenleigh
PCYC. All funding for the station has to be generated from
BFM businesses.
The station broadcasts
24 hours a day and offers the Greatest Hits from the 80's,
90's and Today and the shows that are aired on the station
are prepared and executed by the Radio Club members. Regular
listeners take great pride in monitoring the development of
our announcers who start going to air after their training,
and then progressively improve with the number of shows that
they do.
PCYC Radio
Club:
The success of our
Radio Club has been the backbone of the development of our
ever expanding Radio Program.
We are in the process
of enabling this program to be able to run in multiple PCYC's
and Schools around Australia. We started the Internet Radio
to allow this to happen.
We have been training
students from different High Schools so they can commence
a School Internet Radio program with schools from around the
country contributing show content, and
now it will be expanding to schools throughout Australia.
Every six months we
run a "Radio Club" for 16 young people between the
ages of 14 and 29, and during this period the participants
not only learn how to become an announcer, they also learn
how to run a working Radio Station.
The training is extensive
and by the end of the program all participants have the opportunity
to practice what they have learned and have their own "On
Air" show that is broadcast locally over our FM Radio
Station, and over the World through our Internet Radio Station.
Our Announcers:
The announcers who
have aired shows on BFM are all graduates of our 6 month Radio
Club training program that is run at both the Beenleigh and
Logan PCYC's.
We have been amazed
at the incredible talent that has emerged from this program
and below are pictures of some of our great past and present
announcers.

Some Successes:
With the passing of
time we have lost contact with many of the past Radio Club
members, but some have stayed in contact and there are some
amazing stories to tell about the changes in their lives.
Here are a few progress reports.
- After a marathon 90 shows, Claire
and Emilie have both started a Journalism course at Uni.
Their talents have grown so much that they caught the
ear of a major AM Radio Station and have commenced On-Air
shifts with them. Claire has become a major part of a
local theatre group as well.
- With the influence of our program
there have been nine others who have commenced tertiary
courses in a media discipline.
- Two of the above now run the same
program at the Logan PCYC.
- One of the above has become the
Southern Hemisphere Manager for a major Cinema group.
- A further six have started their
own businesses with their newly acquired confidences and
people skills.
- Three were in struggling music
groups and have since started to get into "The Fast
Lane" with their music careers.
- One came to us as a Cabinetmaker
and today is in the process of setting up a multi-million
dollar CD Label - Look out Sony.
- Every other announcer has had
there lives changed in one way or another, and are now
enjoying a more comfortable career path.
