do all the Telco's have different phone plans?
There is one simple
answer - to try and gain a marketing advantage over their
opposition while still maintaining a high profit margin.
Absolutely everything
has a cost associated with it and nothing is free. To offer
plan components at a seemingly huge discounted price there
is usually increases in prices elsewhere to compensate and
this is usually hidden from obvious sight.
How
do I make sense of my present Mobile or PSTN phone bill?
Firstly you need to
analyse your bill and determine which area of your bill represents
the highest cost to you eg. Local Calls - National Calls -
Mobile Calls.
You also need to determine
what Flagfall you are being charged, and if you are being
charged in 30 second blocks for your long distance and mobile
calls.
If you have a "Minimum
Spend" you have to determine if you are actually using
any "free" calls associated with your present plan.
If the majority of
your calls are local, you need a plan that gives the best
benefit and price here. If the majority of your calls are
either long distance or mobile, obviously you need a plan
that will likewise give you the best benefit here.
